You may easily toggle X-ray view with the X key. Each gem/ore has another type of color (i.e. yellow metal is yellow) with an easy to learn color scheme.
The camping mod is a fun addition to Minecraft that gives you more ways that can be played the overall game essentially.
Using items like multi-tools and tents you can survive in the forest just like a true camper. The mod has multiplayer capability for camping with friends also.
